It looks like Ninja Gaiden fans will have to be patient for any news about a new game, as series director Fumihiko Yasuda has said during an interview with VGC that there are currently no plans to create another installment in the popular action game series by Team Ninja.
“[There are] no plans currently, but I’ve always wanted to make a new instalment in the series, so here’s hoping for that!”
With Ninja Gaiden 3 being the last release in the series way back in 2012, the Nioh director has stated that the company is focusing its energies on working on new titles. They also shot down speculation that a new sequel to Nioh was in development. Nioh of course is partially published by Sony Interactive Entertainment — making the series exclusive to PlayStation consoles.
“There are no current plans for the Nioh series to be on Xbox consoles at this point, but of course the Ninja Gaiden series has had a long history on Microsoft‘s consoles,” he said. “So if there was to be a new title in the Ninja Gaiden series in the future, we’d definitely like that to be on Xbox consoles.”
While no Ninja Gaiden sequel is coming anytime soon, there are rumors that a Ninja Gaiden Σ Trilogy for PS4 and Nintendo Switch is in development — which we reported about some months back.
