Just last week, Sony confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will also be hitting the PS4 in addition with the PS5 version. It seems that aside from the extra next-gen features, Spider-Man Miles Morales PS5 file size will also be a tad smaller compared to the PS4 version!
Mind, this isn’t a big difference (it’s only a 2GB difference in total), but still a nice surprise considering all the improvements the PS5 version will feature. This detail was revealed by the game’s listing on official PlayStation website where it states that the PS5 version will require a minimum of 50GB, while the PS4 one will require 52GB. Head on below for the screenshots.
Again, it’s just a 2GB difference, but if this is the trend moving forward, that should add up eventually. Hopefully, compression is better for PS5 games and for patches so we can have more games on our SSD. It should be noted that PlayStation’s lead system architect, Mark Cerny outlined how games on PS5 could be reduced in size due no longer relying on data duplication. This is mostly thanks to the high speeds that the SSD will offer in the PS5, being capable of retrieving data much quicker, thus eliminating (or lowering) the need to duplicate files for faster retrieval. Still, with better textures and higher resolution one would have assumed that the PS5 version would still have been large, though knowing Sony and the studios under it’s wings we’re sure they’re utilizing the system in ways we couldn’t imagine.
