To the surprise of no one, the Silent Hill rumors that have been making their way around the internet, have officially been confirmed as false.

This news comes from a Konami rep who replied to an email surrounding the rumor to the website, RelyOnHorror. The statement reads:

“We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear,”

For those who are out in the dark, the rumor surrounding Silent Hill stated that Konami had been working on two titles, one closely with Sony as a reboot to the series, and another supposedly developed by Kojima and his team. The rumor already seemed pretty bogus from the get-go, mostly because as we’ve seen, Kojima and Konami don’t exactly have the best kind of relationship after their falling out. The only reason why many believed it to be so, is because Kojima has been teasing a new project that seems to be related to the horror genre. Otherwise, there really hasn’t been clear signs to indicate that it would have been related to Silent Hills.

So I guess the question is, where does this leave Silent Hill as a series? Well, Konami commented on that, providing a glimmer of hope that they may indeed one day return to the series.

“It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported.”
