The Super Mario series is turning 35 this year, and to celebrate, Nintendo is reportedly working on a multiple Mario Remasters.

This news comes from Video Game Chronicles, who stated that the announcement was originally planned for the now-canceled E3 event. Their sources state that Nintendo is planning on remastering most of the Mario catalog, though the big highlight will consist of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario galaxy. There are tons more Mario remasters being planned, and in addition to them, Eurogamer sources also told them that Nintendo is planning on releasing a new installment in the Paper Mario franchise. How exciting! Of course, this news as of right now is just rumor until Nintendo officially announces it. And we are hoping that is sooner rather than later, especially if a good chunk of these remasters are said to be releasing this year. With E3 canceled, there is no doubt that Nintendo is planning some major Nintendo Direct event.

I for one am pretty excited to hear this, as Super Mario Sunshine is amongst my most favorite in the Mario franchise. Plus, I never got the chance to play Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii U, or it’s sequel. Hopefully, this is one rumor that ends up being true, and perhaps Nintendo will go the extra mile and give some of these the same makeover that they gave Windwaker for the Wii U. Only time will tell, and we’ll be sure to keep you all updated on any new development. But for now, take this rumor with a grain of salt.
