The long wait is finally over, as Sony Interactive Entertainment today revealed the Patapon 2 Remastered release date.
Starting this Thursday, January 30th PlayStation 4 owners will be able to get their hands on the remastered PSP sequel of Patapon 2. The title will feature 4K (PS4 Pro) visual resolution bump along with some performance boost offered by the PlayStation 4. There are some new full-definition screenshots down below along with the official reveal trailer. The title will be available on January 30th for $14.99.
About the game:
Cut off from their Zigoton compatriots after a Kraken attacks their ship, the Patapon tribe find themselves ship-wrecked on a strange new land. As their deity, it’s your job to lead the Patapon army using a variety of rhythmic drum commands as they encounter brand new enemies, allies and a host of new bosses as they continue their search for their promised land, Earthend. Combine the various chains of drumbeats to address each unique level, leading the Patapons to victory over the enemy forces.
I originally played the first two when they released on the PlayStation Portable all so many years ago, and these are easily some of the best titles for the platform. With the second one now remastered and about to release, hopefully, this may increase the likelihood of seeing Patapon 3 Remaster happen as the title boasts some online-cooperative play and many other gameplay improvements. For those who haven’t played them yet, you can start by playing the original one, which has been remastered for the PlayStation 4.
