The latest The Last of Us Part II video is all about the gameplay as developers Naughty Dog discusses some of the new mechanics and design choices they had gone with for this anticipated sequel.
One of those new mechanics the video goes over is the newly added jump button. This was not featured in the first game, though players could still climb and “jump” over things by pushing the character forward. Another is also the ability to prone as Ellie, which could offer some rather unique player choices. However, the biggest and exciting reveal in this (in our opinion) is how Naughty Dog has created a far larger game world, and has even hinted that players may not even see certain sections of the game. At least in a single playthrough that is.
“There are things where we feel like, even though a portion of our player base may never see these things, the fact that when you do encounter them you feel like you discovered them, it lends them this charm and this magic that I think is unique to games.”
You can watch the full video down below, which is a little under 9-minutes. It features a mix of both gameplay and developer talks.
