Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered has been confirmed as digital only release for those getting the deluxe edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the PS5. Unfortunately, there’s going to be a big catch — your saves from the PS4 version of the game won’t carry over, meaning you will have to start the entire thing from scratch.
While replying to a user named “josephsayer” who asked if players could pick up where they left off, developer Insomniac Games gave a simple yet divisive response:
Saves won’t transfer from the original game to the Remaster

The news of the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered not accepting old save files from the previous generation is absolutely disappointing for those who worked hard for their progress, but it just confirms the fact that the game is not a simple polished up transfer and high-res job. Players will have to replay the game all over again to earn what may hopefully be new trophies and rewards, but that still doesn’t mean fans aren’t disappointed. There’s also no physical release of the remaster announced, so those who want to play it will have to get it through digital means.
On a related note, Amazon has now opened pre-orders for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales at their website. Be sure to read more about the different packages the game has for PS4 and PS5 here, as well as checking out the new gameplay trailer that premieres during the PS5 Showcase.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will swing on out with the release of the PS5 on November 12. It will be available as a standalone purchase on the PS4, with a digital only option for the PS5.
