After almost two years of inactivity, the Mafia Twitter account tweeted something for the first time over the weekend, which sparked notions of either a remaster or a new game in the franchise. Well, it seems we’re in for a Mafia II and Mafia III re-releases.

While some might assume this is for a new game in the series, it’s most likely a remaster of some sort, and more evidence has surfaced pointing to that. First off, the Brazil rating for the game has been updated to reflect PS4, Xbox One and Stadia versions.

In addition to that, the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated Mafia II: Definitive Edition for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, and also a Mafia III: Definitive Edition for the same three platforms, too.

While no official announcement has been made, don’t be surprised if these two definitive editions of the Mafia game franchise are announced this later this year by the publisher as part of one of the many digital presentations happening in the next few months.

Brief background on the games, Mafia II was released back in 2010 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, while Mafia III was released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on 2016. Maybe these definitive editions are a pre-cursor for a full Mafia IV announcement, no?
