Following the exciting teaser footage, Bethesda also tweeted an explanation of what exactly their new Indy project is:

A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, Machine Games, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. It’ll be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!

Created by George Lucas as a tribute to the movie serials of the 1930’s and 1940’s, Indiana Jones is the nickname of Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones, Jr. — a professor of archaeology who goes on various adventures across the world in search of fortune and glory while dealing with the likes of the Nazis and Russians. The series started with the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, with all four Indiana Jones films starring Harrison Ford in the titular role and all directed by Steven Spielberg. A fifth film is scheduled to be released some time in 2022, with Ford reprising his iconic role for the final time.

Speaking of Indiana Jones, a cancelled Tomb Raider game that was recently rediscovered was meant to be reskinned as an Indy game before it ultimately got canned as well.
