A Horizon Zero Dawn PC release is on its way this Summer!
Announced in a Q&A session that Sony’s head of Worldwide Studios, Hermen Hulst, took part in, the long-rumored PC port of Horizon Zero Dawn will be releasing on Steam and presumably Epic Game Store sometimes this Summer.
Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer…. There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.
Hulst said in the blog post. As for where does his leave room for future PlayStation titles to be ported to PC? Well from the sound of it plenty, though Hulst did say that they are 100% committed to consoles when it comes to exclusives.
Sure. I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on.
And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.
This wouldn’t be the only major PC port that has been revealed, as Death Stranding was also confirmed for PC some time ago. We should note that while the studio behind Death Stranding is technically a third-party studio, the engine that was used to create the game was handled by Sony’s own first-party studio, Guerilla Games. Interesting to see the first major PS4 titles moving to PC being titles developed by the same engine, but none-the-less, this is great news overall for PC players.
Horizon Zero Dawn PC release is currently being targeted for a Summer release. We will have more details once a release date is announced.
