Unless you’ve been living under a rock or inside a cave for the past few months, you’ve no doubt, heard of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Reddit user Cosmic_Quark 3D printed the Ghost of Tsushima face mask that actually protects people from COVID-19. Corresnponding with SP1st, he shared some of the thoughts behind the design process.
During quarantine about a month ago I began realizing that since Covid-19 won’t be going away any time soon, and everyone is going to need a mask that they enjoy (or at least tolerate) wearing. So, I thought it would be a good idea to start designing and 3D printing my own, fun, masks. The idea was that you would have a single base functional mask that you could attach a decorative cover to. I found the perfect fit for this through a YouTube video.
Cosmic_Quark adds that there was already an open source mask design that many people were already printing and using with a convenient removable cap, which he used as his base design for the mask. Next, going to thingiverse, he found designs that people would be OK with if they were turned into masks. Modifying these designs slighly using Autodesk Inventor and Fusion 360, here’s what it looks like:
If you like that, he has it for sale on Etsy, where he also has other stuff on display.
Not a bad way to not only celebrate the game, but also be safe in the process.
Ghost of Tsushima is out next week, and we’ll have our review live once embargo lifts! After that, we’ll have guides up for the different collectibles in the game.
