While Assassin’s Creed Valhalla isn’t even out just yet, it seems we already know the first Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC that’ll be available post-launch, and it’ll tackle the legend of Beowulf!

Courtesy of the UPlay Germany store (via AltChar), the Season Pass description mentions that players will be able to  “Get epic new content, explire new countries and find new gear,” and it’ll also include the story mission “The Legend of Beowulf. Discover the cruel truth behind the legend.”

Here’s a screengrab of it:

Those not familiar with the poem, here’s what it’s about courtesy of Wikipedia:

The story is set in Scandinavia in the 6th century. Beowulf, a hero of the Geats, comes to the aid of Hrothgar, the king of the Danes, whose mead hall in Heorot has been under attack by a monster known as Grendel. After Beowulf slays him, Grendel’s mother attacks the hall and is then also defeated. Victorious, Beowulf goes home to Geatland (Götaland in modern Sweden) and becomes king of the Geats. Fifty years later, Beowulf defeats a dragon, but is mortally wounded in the battle. After his death, his attendants cremate his body and erect a tower on a headland in his memory.

We’re not sure how faithful the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC will be to the original prose, but it should be somewhat close to it given Valhalla’s setting.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will launch this Holiday 2020 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC and Stadia.
